Missions

Missionary Vision

To reach out to others, both within and beyond our borders, and to impact their lives with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action.

Missionary Imperative

‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the Earth’. (Acts 1:8 NIV)

Key Strategic Objectives

  • To encourage church members to support local, national and overseas Christian missionary organisations in prayer and to intercede on behalf of nations, peoples and missionaries who are suffering persecution for the sake of the Gospel.

  • To cultivate a culture of generosity in giving financial/material support to the underprivileged both locally and nationally and to less developed nations as well as addressing specific needs that may emerge and with which the Lord burdens our hearts. These actions will have at their heart the promotion and furtherance of the Gospel message.

  • To encourage members and particularly the younger generation to give of their time and energy in supporting the underprivileged through local, nationwide and overseas involvement.

  • To promote local national and international missionary endeavours and encourage volunteer involvement with the relevant Mission Organisations so as to assist them in attaining their God inspired goals.

  • To seek to provide opportunities and encouragement for members to take part in local, national or international trips and provide such necessary financial support as considered appropriate.

Specific Goals

  • Identify Home and Overseas missionary organisations or groups that wish to promote their message and mission to the Church and invite such to send speakers to GCF.

  • Look for natural links within and outside the country through Irish Missionary volunteers e.g. CEF, Mozambique/Thailand and consider how we can support them.

  • Consider supporting missionary activity identified by Plumbline on combined ‘Church Family’ basis. (This can be national or overseas.)

  • Encourage 3rd level students to consider giving a portion of time to support national or overseas missionary efforts as they will be blessed in doing so.

  • Consider specific national and overseas trips from GCF to promote the concept of ‘working together’ for the benefit of others.
  • Promote events that focus on missionary outreach e.g. IMap annual event ‘Your Move’.

  • Provide for missions funding from the annual Church budget.

Administration

  • Prayerfully consider and decide which missionaries and Missions organisations GCF East will support and continue to  work with and support Team Hope and Caring for China’s Children

  • Have a short monthly missions slot during Sunday Morning Services that will promote missions and encourage congregational involvement.

  • Continue with current overseas mission involvement and seek out worthy local and national missionary endeavours to become involved with.

  • Have a Missions service twice annually and invite a guest speaker from a Missionary Organisation to speak.

  • Encourage congregation involvement in specific mission outreaches.
